The Participant Leads
Every archive includes: Written access instructions, viewing permissions, timing preferences (immediate or delayed), right to revoke or restrict access.
Storage is not ownership. It is custodianship.
Stewardship, Not Ownership
Spoken Legacy does not claim ownership of recordings. We hold them in trust, for as long as we are asked to do so.
What Happens to Your Recording
How Your Recording Is Preserved
Your Spoken Legacy interview is preserved with care, using a layered archival approach designed to protect your voice over time.
We believe that preservation is not about technology—it is about stewardship.
Each recording is handled in three ways:
A Secure Archival Copy A master recording is stored securely for long‑term preservation. This copy is protected and accessed only according to your written instructions.
A Physical Keepsake You may receive a physical keepsake containing your recording, intended for private family use. This offers a tangible way to hold what has been shared.
Family‑Managed Copies You may choose to share copies with loved ones for their own safekeeping, ensuring your voice remains accessible across generations.
You remain in control of who may access your recording, when it may be shared, and how it is used.
